You are required to write a final research paper. The paper must be related to an ethics issue for a local, state, or federal government. This paper will be a 6-10 pages (not including bibliography and appendix) written analysis and will provide a background of the facts, an analysis of the dilemma, decision-making approach(es) utilized, and resolution. Written assignments should reflect the student’s knowledge of the subject, as well as the use of higher thinking skills (analysis, interpretation, synthesis, and evaluation). You are expected to use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar. All written assignments must be in APA format and should be double-spaced with 12point font and Times New Roman Script. Full citation is expected, according to APA standards.
Your papers are evaluated on process and substance, including your ability to synthesize the material and provide a critical analysis of the issue raised. This paper should reflect college-level work in content, appearance, organization, grammar, and effort. Do not use Wikipedia or rely solely on Internet articles. The paper should not be a string of quotes taken from various sources, even if organized and sequenced in some logical manner. While supporting professional citations are required, the majority of the paper should be your own thinking and work.
The paper should not be an “editorial” of personal views unsupported by citations from the professional literature. Be sure to proof-read/spell check the final draft of the paper before submitting it to the instructor. Reading the paper out loud often points out spelling and grammatical errors, as well as incorrect word usage.
