Research Paper Format and Requirements 1. Twenty pages, not counting title page and literature cited. 2. 12 point font, Arial or Times Roman. 3. Double spaced. 4. One inch margins on all sides. 5. No excessive white space. 6. No more than 10% online sources, except for bonafide online journals, i.e. PLOS-ONE. 7. There is a difference between an exclusively online journal and a paper journal with a web site. Any paper from a paper journal even though you got the paper online should be cited as a paper journal, see below. 8. Text books are not suitable references. Books should be professional publications, not written for a general audience. If you have any doubt, ask your instructor. 9. A minimum of 12-15 references are required. 10. Title page should list your paper’s title, your name, the course for which the paper was written, and the date. 11. Research papers are essentially a review of the literature for a given topic. The paper should contain an introduction, whatever sub-divisions are appropriate for the topic, and literature cited. Literature cited should follow the formats discussed below. 12.Text Citation Format …according to Author (1969).
