The majority of respiratory diseases and deaths witnessed in the world are often connected to air pollution. According to the WHO, air pollution accounted for 29% of global deaths caused by lung disease. It also accounted for 17% of all deaths and illnesses from acute respiratory infections. Air pollution mainly affects those living in poverty because they usually dwell in places near or around where these polluting industries are located. While some populations are adversely affected more than others, air pollution remains a global problem.
