What is the difference between individual-level racism and institutional racism? What are some examples of each? What are some possible ways to minimize/reduce both types of racism?
Individual-level racism refers to the kind of discrimination individuals face due to their membership in a particular group. On the other hand, institutional racism refers to discrimination embedded in the procedures, policies, or goals of large organizations against certain groups of people. On an individual level, people must commit to anti-racism if they wish to end this form of racism. Institutions also need to acknowledge racism in all its forms to create policies and procedures that do not support discrimination.
