The Cold War emerged because of the ideological differences between the United States and the Soviet Union. The period is also marred by the emergence of nuclear weapons causing tensions about an imminent war. In the US, the fear of communism characterized Cold War. Despite the tensions, this war shaped America’s foreign policy and political ideologies. It also had a great impact on the domestic economy that had a personal impact on American lives. The war ended with the collapse of the Communist party’s rule in Eastern Europe and the eventual disintegration of the Soviet Union.
